It's April and like every other year, the residents of Wisconsin seem bound and determined to take off too many clothes, far too early! It's odd, but for a lot of people, wardrobe choices at this time of the year seem to be governed more by the date on the calendar than the actual temperature outside. This phenomenon seems to be especially prevalent with high school students.
For example, this morning it was 41°F outside. Or to put it another way,
9°F above freezing! In spite of this, six kids in the class I was subbing for first hour had chosen to wear shorts and flip flops. Not only that, but four of them were leaving to visit a grade school shortly after attendance was taken. The grade school is about 6 blocks away from the high school.
You might wonder, as I did, how they were getting to the grade school. I asked, and the answer was that they were WALKING.
Yeah, walking! Dressed in shorts and flip flops, in 41°F weather. Pure genius.
