The assignment appears to have been to illustrate a word on an 8.5" x 11" sheet of paper, and then to label the picture in English as well as German. The signs employed a "Don't say (English word), say (German word) format, as in:
"Don't say teacher, say Lehrer."
"Don't say desk, say Schreibtisch."
"Don't say library, say Bibliothek."
"Don't say staircase, say Treppenhaus."
I'd noticed these posted around the school. But didn't pay too much attention until I was on hall duty (between classes) without much else to look at. It was then that I came across a sign that made me laugh out loud.
It said,"Don't say arm, say arm." Gotta love a bilingual smart ass!
