Turn, turn, turn

The weird part about feeling really sick, is how much it makes you appreciate feeling well again.

In the last 15 years (possibly 20), I can count the number of times I’ve actually “thrown up,” on one hand. Seriously, it’s just not my M.O. as far as sicknesses go.

This is not to erroneously claim that I’m the “picture of health,” or have an exceptional immune system. On the contrary, every time I catch even the commonest of colds, it undoubtedly turns into a multi-week affair which nine times out of ten ends up as sinus infection requiring antibiotics. For some reason though, I’m not much of a puker.

With that in mind, you can imagine my initial surprise and subsequent disbelief when I ended up with a case of the “stomach flu” late Thursday evening. The bug kept me in bed for the better part of 36 hours...with the worst part of those 36 hours spent hugging the toilet! Not cool.

Even worse because I had plans to go to the Badger game on Saturday, which I was obviously in no shape to attend. Even worse again, because the weather on Saturday turned out to be unseasonably de-friggin-lightful. Put another way, it was probably the best weather EVER for a football game ANYWHERE. Ugh!

So I missed the game and spent most of the day inside with a splitting headache. But on Sunday I felt better than I remember feeling in a long, long time. Not only that, but the day felt warmer and the sun seemed brighter because I’d missed it all the day before!

Weird, but I guess it’s true after all; “this too shall pass.”
