My own, personal, Santa

So, I've been Christmas shopping this week. Actually, it would be more accurate to say that I've been frantically racing-from-store-to-store-at-the last-minute shopping. Oh joy!

I have most of my shopping done at this point. I only have a gift card and a gray glove & scarf set to pick up. Not that big of a deal, except that Janvesville appears to be completely friggin out of gray gloves & scarfs -- if there were even any here to begin with, which I'm beginning to doubt!

The worst part of shopping this year has been the realization that I'm, well, selfish. Or maybe just self-centered. I say this, because the stack of items I acquired for other people while shopping, is quite a bit smaller than the pile of things I got for myself.

Tuesday night I went to eight different stores. I bought spoons, bowls, a scarf, a fireplace bucket thing, a red dish drainer, a cool bike hanger thing on a pulley, scented pine cones, Santa hat chair covers and some candles -- all for myself! And I'm here to tell you, if Best Buy carried iBooks, that the list would have increased by at least one! In my defense, I also picked up three gifts for other people. I realize that three is fewer than nine. But I'm trying to find the perfect gifts people -- my personal tastes are less refined, so it's easier to find things myself. Yeah, yeah, that's the ticket.

Last night I did a little better. I found three more gifts, which was great! And only bought myself, well, a winter coat. D'oh! See, that's a little selfish, isn't it? Even though I did put back the black and pink leather gloves that would REALLY match my new scarf.

Hmm, maybe I'll go pick them up today . . . Who knows, the store might have received a shipment of gray gloves & scarf sets. Yeah, that's the spirit!

Merry Christmas everyone!
