Holy crapola! It's been HOT out this week. Something that was made even more apparent Tuesday, when I decided to mow the lawn. I should start by explaining that since my mower was out of commission, I was forced to go with "plan B."
Let me tell you, "Plan B" sucked!
Mainly because it involved the use of a borrowed reel push mower. I had a feeling that the push mower would be harder to use, but sort of underestimated how much harder it would be.
The other thing I didn't take into account was the apparent "fact" that push mowers aren't good at cutting long grass. And by saying "not good at," I actually mean "won't do it--at all!" Yep, no matter how many times you pass over the same section of grass with the sharp mower blades spinning away, tall pieces of grass remain unscathed. In practice, the whole thing seems like some sort of magic trick. (If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes, I wouldn't have believed it myself!)
In the end, the lawn does look cut, although not particularly well-groomed. Sort of like someone went at it with a scissors-- and not a very good pair of scissors at that!
