2, 2 tango

Tonight as is the case with many nights, I found myself wishing I'd either returned my Netflix selections sooner so I'd have something new at home, or gone out and actually rented a movie.

Alas, with nothing else on my limited, though extremely cheap cable package, I found myself watching "The Baby Borrowers." The show was slightly amusing. Although the generic "reality" format it employs never keeps my attention for long. Which is fine, because I was bored enough to do laundry, wash dishes, take out the recyclables and clean the bathroom. Not bad for a night's work!

I was so busy that two episodes of the "The Baby Borrowers" had come and gone before I even thought to look for the remote. At that point I was in a bit of a panic to change the channel as "Celebrity Circus" loomed in the very near future. Yikes! I looked all over and finally found the remote in the sink where I'd recently washed dishes. D'oh!

No worries though, as it appears to have suffered no ill effect. Well, as long as I want to watch something on channel 2... or channel 22. And I guess if my cable package went up that high, channel 222 would be fine as well. I'm hoping it will dry out, but in its current state pushing any button on the remote results in a 2. Yep, volume (up or down), channel (up or down), mute, menu and any of the numbers all equal 2.

But maybe it's not so bad. In our area channel 2 is the "TV Guide Channel," so it runs a constant crawl of what's showing on other channels. And you know when I see some of the garbage that's actually on out there, it seems like I might have ended up with the lesser of 2 evils after all.

Can you put the remote in a giant glass filled with rice? Because rice can sure dry out a cell phone... seems like it might work for you.

Great suggestion! And I happen to have a container of real rice (as opposed to Minute Rice) that I've given up hope on, since preparing it is clearly beyond my culinary skills.
