Lake Delton Empties, Washes Away 4 Homes
Heavy rains caused Lake Delton in Wisconsin to overflow, emptying the lake into the Wisconsin River. Lake Delton Village trustee Thomas Deihl says the 245-acres lake is now dry.

Authorities ordered sandbagging as the water levels continued to rise. Nearly 100 people began sandbagging around 2 a.m. Monday morning, but had no success.

The Department of Natural Resources says the Dell Creek Dam on the lake didn’t fail. A highway embankment failed, causing water to pour out of the lake and into the Wisconsin River. At least 4 homes were washed away.
