New to theatres in 2004

I'm not much of a homebody--whenever possible, I'd rather be out and about. This weekend however, the weather was complete crap with more than enough snow and freezing rain keep me at home. I'd cleaned the house Friday, so that left me with Saturday and Sunday to fill. I spent those days pretty much the way I imagine our Pilgrim ancestors did; hauling firewood, tending the fire, making hearty soup and playing Guitar Hero.

At some point though my sweet tooth kicked in, which lead me to search a certain kitchen cabinet where I sometimes "hide" sweet snacks from myself. I didn't find anything good, but I did find a major ingredient--an unopened box Rice Krispies cereal! I thought this was sort of odd since I didn't remember buying Rice Krispies, but I didn't worry about that as I set off on a short trek to the store to buy marshmallows so I could make Rice Krispies Treats.

It wasn't until I returned home that I noticed that the Rice Krispies box in question featured characters from the Pixar film The Incrediables. Hmm, not exactly the newest animated flick. When I checked the expiration date on the box, it read August 2005.

That was clearly over two years ago, but I was in a little bit of a "situation" as far as transportation was concerned. You see, while I'd made it out of my driveway when I'd gone to get marshmallows, I'd barely made it back in because of the amount of snow and ice piled up at the entrance. So leaving again for a fresher box of Rice Krispies seemed like a bad idea... an even worse idea than consuming a 2+ year old box of Rice Krispies. So in the spirit of roughing it and making do, I decided to use the stale Rice Krispies I had on hand.

Just like the Pilgrims had to do all those years ago.

I remember a previous blog of yours describing a can of chicken soup that had expired two or three years before you decided to try eating it. There is clearly a theme here.

Maybe you should check the crisper in your fridge. And I don't think I would eat any eggs you have in there either.
