This last batch of snow came in the very early hours of Tuesday morning. Apparently enough snow fell to close all the schools in the area, which meant that I wasn't called to substitute teach. As a result, I didn't wake up until later in the morning. By the time I was up and about, the moisture falling from the sky wasn't coming down in the form of snow, but rather a freezing rain/sleet mixture.
I tried to use my snow blower on the mess, but I couldn't get more than two feet without it stalling. Through a herculean effort I managed to clear the front walk one 50 lb. shovel-load at a time, but the stuff on the driveway, especially the approach to the driveway was already impenetrable. To make matters worse, as the day progressed the temperature continued to drop which caused the rain and sleet that had fallen earlier in the day to freeze solid!
Bottom line, I haven't been able to get in or out of my driveway for two days now. My sidewalks aren't in the best shape either, in fact I'm pretty certain that my mailman will refuse to traverse it and put me on a "mail delay" (they can do that you know!) and I wouldn't even blame him.
Oh well, I mostly only get bills and with the exception of my car payment, none of them are too terribly time-sensitive. Although now that I think about it I might be okay there too, at least until the Spring thaw. Because anyone trying to repossess the car would have to get it out of the driveway first!

Don't even get me started on this ice mess. I got stuck trying to turn into my driveway, and had to put on my emergency lights as my car was halfway into Racine St (busy street, just so you know) and then get the shovel out to get all the solid ice away from under my tires! An unlucky man who was walking by (who the f**k) goes for a walk in the freezing rain anyway?) came to help and we finally got the car out. I know I claim to love this snow stuff, but I'm over it!!
