The hole truth


Ha! As you can see by the photo above, the toothbrushes shown on my last post are actually the same size. Why then does my new toothbrush stick out so much further than my old toothbrush?

Because for some reason, the handle on my new toothbrush is too big to fit in the hole of a standard toothbrush holder.



Why is the new handle so much larger? Hard to say. Considering the relatively small length of time that a person spends brushing their teeth each day, it seems like the new handle design is a bit excessive. As it is, I doubt that people were developing blisters or carpal tunnel syndrome using the old toothbrush handle.

Maybe the toothbrush manufacturer is releasing a series of toothbrush holders of their own with holes designed to accommodate the larger handles of the toothbrushes they'll continue to produce. If this is the case, I imagine the handle/hole relationship will continue unchecked until such time as the handles and holders become too large to fit on top of a standard size bathroom vanity.

Which means we can expect to see Crest and Colgate competing with Kohler in the very near future.
