You can hear me now

Hmm, while I’m not prone to conspiracy theories, I do think it’s a bit odd that my cell phone took such a dramatic turn for the worse three days after I posted a blog about the internal struggle I was having over whether or not I should replace it.

Along those lines, it seems like it would be easy enough for a cellular company to send out a blocking signal, or some other sinister ray in order to disable a phone if and when The Company deemed it was appropriate. Especially after a given customer had been ranting, just days before, about the deficient service that The Company provided—on the worldwide web of all places!

As you may have guessed, I’m the proud if somewhat reluctant owner of a new cell phone.

For whatever reason on Monday morning, I couldn’t get the old one to hold a charge. Since it wouldn’t hold a charge, I couldn’t even turn it on without plugging it in. Furthermore, it would turn off the second I unplugged it, thereby removing the any and all “mobility” from the previously mobile phone.

Oh well.

I’d tell you how much I paid for the new one, but I honestly don’t know. There were at least three different pricing structures, as well as in-store rebates and mail-in rebates that I may or may not have qualified for. In the end, I was happy to walk out of the store with a phone that works.

The actual price I paid will be added to my next bill. But since the bill hasn’t been printed yet and it’s entirely possible they employ internet spies, I’d like to retract any earlier statements I made that may have cast my cellular service provider, its services or employees in a negative light. That said, let me go on record by offering this wholly unsolicited endorsement.

The service I received on 1-30-07 was outstanding!
TY US cellular, ur d bst!
