My car had been making a weird noise. Not a clanking, but sort of a loudish spinning noise definitely associated with the engine.
So a couple weeks ago I stopped in the auto supply isle at WalMart to search for a solution. There are a bunch of cleaners, additives and what-not available but I wasn't sure what, if anything would work. I read a bunch of labels and finally picked up a bottle of oil. It said it was an engine lubricant. Hmm. Maybe that should have been obvious, but I guess I never thought much about it. Since my engine was the thing making noise, I figured I might as well dump some oil in the car to see if the lubricating properties of the oil got rid of the noise.
Amazingly, the noise DID decrease right after I added the oil. Sweet! The whole bottle fit in though, which worried me a little. So I made a mental note to buy some more. I finally got around to it Saturday. And let me tell you, I must have been really low on oil, because I was able the dump the entire new bottle in too! Eeek. At any rate, I was happy to see that the engine light on my dash finally went off for the first time in weeks.
Of course I'm not sure if that had more to do with the addition of the oil, or the removal of the flashlight that I must have left under the hood a when I added the first bottle a couple weeks ago. Do'h!
