Down comforter, yah or nay? Or maybe a down alternative would be better? How about a memory-foam pillow, or 450 thread count sheets?
I've been visiting Overstock.com lately. I checked out the Bedroom link. And it turns out, I don't have most of the sleep accessories they're selling -- haven't even heard of some of them! It's got me wondering how I've been able to sleep at all without this stuff. Having the right equipment is the key to doing something well, right?
There's probably an economy lesson here somewhere, exposure, perceived needs, whatever. I can say that Overstock.com has affected my personal economy.
Last week I caved, and bought a memory-foam mattress topper. And let me tell you, it was the best money I ever spent. It's friggin awesome! I'm amazed that something I was previously only vaguely aware of, has raised my sleeping performance to a whole new level.
So, what's next? I mean, can it get even better? I'm thinking yes.
And so I'm asking, down comforter or down alternative?

Down alternative. We have one and really like it. It'll keep you warm yet won't over heat you (how does it know?).
Plus, it's cheaper than a down comforter and you won't have to send it to the cleaners after you sneeze and accidently empty out half a cup of mucous all over it (you and your sinuses).
Awesome! Thanks for the advice. Now that you mention it, my sinuses have been relatively mucous free. -- I'll keep you posted if that changes. . .
I have a goose down comforter (the real thing, actual feathers), and I love it. But I'm also not allergic to anything. If you have allergies, you want to go with the down alternative. For all you know, you might be allergic to geese. Or ducks. Or whatever other feathers they make comforters from.
Good point -- in the price range I'm looking at, the feathers might be from pigeons.
