Tomorrow is loose leaf collection day in my neighborhood. "Loose leaf" in this case refers to leaves that aren't in bags, not three-ring binder paper.
According to the city website, citizens wishing to participate in the loose leaf collection "should rake leaves loosely into the street gutter." Presumably the gutter in front of their house, but I guess any gutter would do.
At any rate, today I spent no fewer than four hours hunting and gathering leaves from the far points of my property before depositing them into the gutter. An altogether thankless job that involved the use of a leaf blower, two different sized rakes and a large tarp. Ugh.
Looking around my small yard, it's pretty clear that I don't have enough trees to produce the amount of foliage that I rake each year. I guess this means that while "an apple doesn't fall far from the tree," leaves are another thing altogether.
Which is fine to a point. But this year I swear I raked leaves from trees that aren't even native to this state!
