Over the past couple days I've been hearing a radio commercial in which the owner of a small business goes on, a bit self-righteously, about how he's absorbing price increases from his suppliers instead of passing them on to his customers.
Which is all well and good, except that this guy sells Amish-made furniture.
I don't mean to to steal any one's thunder by asking, but would the Amish really be experiencing cost increases right now? I would think that by forgoing the use of gasoline and electricity their products would be fairly recession-proof.
Gas powered or horse-drawn, the commercial makes me think that someone's being taken for a ride

Good call! That made me laugh.
That would probably be true, if and only if, everything that they used in the production of their goods and services came from within their "community". If they rely on outside goods/services at all, their costs are rising just like everyone else's. It may be a case of self-righteous indignation, but if he is/was not passing along his costs, then perhaps he was charging too much to begin with??? Just my two cents
