Swing vote

I subbed at an alternative high school today. I'm not exactly sure what qualifies a kid for admittance into the school. But there were 12 students, and five babies in my first hour class.

I quickly noticed that the boys at the school didn't pay the least little bit of attention to the babies. I'm not saying any of them had actually sired the babies in attendance, so I wouldn't have expected the boys to be feeding them or anything. But it was like they were completely unaware of the existence of the babies. The female students and the teachers would stop to coo, or at least smile at the babies. But the boys would barely alter their stride to step over them.

That is until I saw one of the boys looking fondly at a little peanut dressed in a pink sleeper wrapped in a pink blanket. Clearly the cutest of the babies in the class, she was sitting in an infant seat on the floor. Still, I was sort of surprised when the boy said, "oh, I really wish I had one of those."

Someone asked, "what, a baby?" But it made perfect sense when he answered, "no, a swing like that."

Yeah, it might even be better than Greg's hammock.
