Garlic Mustard

It sounds like a yummy dip or cracker spread, but in reality it's a highly invasive weed that poses a threat to native plants and animals in the eastern and midwestern United States.

It also appears to be the crop of choice for my backyard neighbors. I'm not sure if anyone is actually living in the house on the property, but I'm very sure that no one has been tending to the yard. Which is the primary reason it has ended up as a breading ground for the infamous garlic mustard weed.

That's not to say that the yard in question would have ever been included on a garden tour, but at least the former inhabitants kept the lawn mowed. Of course, they also cleared a large section of brush and overgrowth that acted as a natural buffer between our two yards—an act that caused me to embark on a fence project that's not particularily pretty to look at, but will restore some semblance of privacy to my yard & patio. The fence will also block the view of the million or so garlic mustard weeds currently thriving in my neighbor's yard.

Until then, feel free to stop by with some crackers...
