Uggh. I finally placed a classified ad to sell the Mazda.
The ad first appeared last Wednesday and I've had close to 20 calls since then. Selling a car, it appears, is somewhat time consuming. And definitely frustrating.
In hind site, there are a couple things I didn't take into account when I made the decision to sell the car myself. Primarily that:
#1 Placing an ad with a telephone number might actually prompt interested parties to call.
#2 I don't really like talking to people on the phone.
#3 I don't really like people, period.
Unfortunately, this process has caused me to receive and return numerous phone calls. With incoming calls being received as early as 9:00 am and as late as 9:45 pm. Seriously, what's up with that? And, since I returned some of the calls by cell phone, there's the additional benefit of having both of my phone numbers effectively broadcast to a portion of the population.
I say this because, apparently, placing a call from any, possibly random phone number, means that the number is fair game for the receiver of the placed call, even when the receiver has been specifically asked NOT to call back at that number.
My plan was to conduct all of the "car business" on my home phone, after work. Instead, I've ended up fielding calls while driving, during soccer matches, at work, in the grocery store, etc. Not cool.
Hopefully this thing will be wrapped up tonight. I have someone coming over tonight, supposedly with a pocket full of cash. I'll believe it when I see it.
In the meantime, I have my cell phone on mute.
