Brick by brick

I had a guy come over to give me an estimate on how much it would cost to finish my basement. I want the walls and ceiling dry walled, and lights and outlets added. And I have zero interest in doing it myself!

The quote came in at $3,400. Pretty reasonable when you think about it. The problem is, where do I get $3,400?

I've been considering my alternatives.

My first idea was to straight-out ask someone for the money. Well, not all of it -- duh, I'm not stupid enough think someone is going to give me $3,400. Besides, I'm not greedy. I'd only ask for $2,000. The next step in this plan is to compile a list of potential donors. Still working on that part.

My second fundraising idea involves bricks. Places like the zoo and Rotary Gardens have "buy a brick" programs where you can donate a specified amount of money to have your name, or someone else's name, displayed on a brick.

Now, it occurs to me that I have a whole patio of bricks. Interesting . . .

So here's the deal. For a small, one-time donation, I will print your name or message on one of the bricks that make up my patio. I'll even use one of those gold paint pens, so it will look nice!

Keep in mind, that it's not a real big patio. Which actually makes this offer more appealing! Read, "exclusive," if you get my meaning. Not to mention the fact that finding your brick on my patio would A LOT easier, than finding one purchased at Rotary Gardens or wherever.

To take advantage of this exciting, limited-time offer, contact me by e-mail. Even if you're not interested, why don't you send me your phone number. I'd love to get to know my readers better.

Besides, I've got a question I'd like to ask you.
